What do you think of this camera?

It’s the canon sx10 is, and it’s around 0 (nzd) on trademe (which is like ebay ~ second hand but good condition) I REALLY want a dslr, but they’re just too expensive and I need a good camera for a photography course I’m taking in 2012. The camera is reccommended to be a dslr, but one with adjustable aperture and shutter speed is fine. I’m only in high school and most other people don’t have dslr’s, so it’s not a big deal.
I really like the look of this one, but i would like some other opinions.
Are there any canon dslr’s similar and around 0 max?
Should I get this one?
Please help!
@kpslover007 that camera is about 00. Way too expensive! But it looks awesome.
